Secret Life Brown Recluse – How It Spends Its Days (and Nights)

Spiders, as you might already be aware, are small arachnids and can differ in size depending on the species. They are found pretty much everywhere, and Beaverton is no exception. They possess eight legs like the other arthropods, and some also have fangs that they put to use when they have to inject venom.

Their body is divided into main parts, namely the head and the thorax. These two parts are collectively called “cephalothorax”. There is an abdomen as well. Spiders also have eight eyes, but some species can have fewer than this. They have jaws that they put to use for piercing and tearing.

There is an organ located in their body that is used to spin silk, which they use to make webs. Once the prey gets trapped in their web, it is not going to be easy for it to get out. Reproductive organs, which are the testes and ovaries, are also there. If you see spiders in your home, you are probably looking at house spiders.

They are the ones that usually infest homes. Coming across other species, such as the brown recluse spider and the black widow spider, is not easy. Get started by checking the link to eliminate pests from your place.

What are jumping spiders?

Many of us find it annoying when spiders are in our place, and many have a fear of spiders as well. The fear of spiders is called “arachnophobia”. However, we can be at peace if they do not fly or jump around. This is just an assumption, though; there are many spiders that are known to jump.

They can travel long distances compared to how big their body is. They are, in fact, known for their jumping abilities. These spiders are quite bright in color, and there are many species of these spiders.

There is even a dance that they exhibit to attract their female companions. However, if they are not impressed by them, the female spiders can even eat the male ones.

What are brown recluse spiders?

They have a common name, which is “fiddleback”. Sometimes they are also called “violin spiders” because the markings they have are in the shape of a violin. There is also a distinct eye feature that can be seen on the front side of their body.

Their color can range from pale to brown, and their legs are not uniformly colored. Males in these species are half the size of females. They are also known to shed skin. There are other brown spiders, too, which are often mistaken for brown recluse spiders.

What are the habits and behaviors of the brown recluse?

They have been given this name because they have a shy nature. In the daytime, they prefer remaining hidden and try to be in secluded areas. It is during the nighttime that they come out and start looking for their prey. They can also be seen on the floor and in other places during the daytime.

If you come across them during the daytime, it is probably hunger or overcrowding that led to their emergence. Sometimes the application of pesticides can also bring them out. These spiders feed on live insects and dead ones, too. They can even go for about twelve months without having to feed on anything. Their lifespan is about two years.

While many spiders spin their webs to get their prey trapped in them, brown recluses do not do so. They carve out webs that are disorderly, and the female ones put these webs to use.

They use it to make egg sacs. Females do not really travel long distances, but males do. While brown recluses are solitary in nature, they can be seen outside if a heavy infestation is present.

Get those webs out!

Not only are spiders annoying to have around, but they can also trigger allergies in people. Thus, please get them out on time before it becomes difficult to get rid of them. Professionals can take care of the infestation for you.
